This year saw the release of the Oculus Rift, the HTC Vive, Playstation VR and many other headsets. It’s also seen an unprecedented number of immersive content created by the likes of PBS, the New York Times and Conde Nast. Now, holograms and augmented reality are also coming into play. But tech is still costly, content is still scarce and monetization is still unclear. Is VR poised to actually reach the mainstream, or will it forever remain “the next big thing?” Our expert panel members debate the future of virtual and augmented reality, and what that means for digital producers.
