Peter Tortorici

One of the media industry’s most respected executives, Peter Tortorici has served as President of two Broadcast Networks (CBS and Telemundo), developed and produced top-rated shows, created new businesses for some of Hollywood’s most prolific Studios and production companies and pioneered the creation of new relationships between Brands, Content and Media.

After starting his career at CBS Sports last serving as head of programs, Tortorici was appointed executive vice president, and then president of CBS Entertainment.  During his tenure, he co-lead a team that guided the network to achieve #1 status in primetime, daytime and late night schedules for three consecutive seasons (1991 – 1994).  As President, he was instrumental in developing such Emmy Award-winning series as Northern Exposure, Picket Fences, Murphy Brown, and Chicago Hope.  In addition, he supervised, CBS Productions, and turned out several highly successful programs including Touched By An Angel, Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman and Walker, Texas Ranger.

Tortorici later joined the Carsey-Werner Co. as Executive Producer. He supervised on-going production of the company’s network shows including the Emmy Award-winning, 3rd Rock From The Sun and developed new programs including the launch of Cosby. He also created the company’s consumer products division and launched their first on-line initiatives.

Tortorici served as President and CEO of Telemundo Network in 1998-99.  He crafted and supervised the successful re-branding and launch of the U.S. Hispanic network.  He later joined with Sony Pictures Entertainment and Columbia TriStar Television as an independent producer.  His Peter Tortorici Productions produced two critically acclaimed Prime Time series; Body & Soul on Pax TV, and Significant Others with NBC/Bravo. 

Tortorici joined MindShare and founded MindShare Entertainment in 2003 helping to define what has now become the industry standard for agency content capabilities.  He subsequently established similar units at MEC and MediaCom and later formed and founded GroupM Entertainment as a worldwide content producer serving as its global CEO.  Tortorici currently provides strategic advisory services for GroupM and WPP regarding its content and media platform investments and initiatives.  He leads WPP’s team currently serving as advisors to the IOC on its Olympic Channel launch.  He further represents WPP’s investment on the board of Indigenous Media.
