David Beebe is a Digital Entertainment Executive with an incredibly successful track record of designing, building and leading digital studios, properties and brands. His expertise extends well beyond content creation to working with brand and creative partners to strategically develop and produce a digital presence across platform through content, social media and audience engagement.
In his current role as Senior Vice President of Creative Development and Digital at Fishbowl Worldwide Media/Vin Di Bona Productions, Beebe is responsible for the strategic and creative development, production, programming, and monetization of digital video, content, and products that entertain, engage, inform and influence consumers across web, mobile, tablets, apps, and emerging platforms.
Since launch, Beebe has been responsible for the exponential growth of the Digital Studio. Current projects include the Telly winning "Ultimate Surprises" and “Ultimate Proposal” with Cameron Mathison and "Stunt Nation" with Sal Masekela - both original series developed for and distributed on Yahoo.com; "Behind The Scene" an original series in development with Hulu.com; and "Meet Cute" with Ashley Tisdale. As the number one show on Yahoo.com, the “Ultimate” franchise is now in development as a TV series with Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos as Executive Producers.
In less than two years, Beebe has taken FishBowl’s database of User Generated Content (UGC) viral by creating content-specific channels that support the theory that, although YouTube’s future is optimistic, the UGC is the foundation of its success. In 2011, Beebe created and launched the "Petsami" channel on YouTube with more than 32 million views, and in November 2012, Revision3, the Discovery-owned online video network, forged a new partnership to distribute and sell advertising for Petsami, as well as to fund development of new shows. At the beginning of 2013, FishBowl announced a partnership with Zachary Quinto’s production company, Before The Door Pictures, which allowed Petsami to have exclusive rights to Quinto’s short filmDog Eat Dog.Most recently, Beebe developed "ToddleTale" (baby and toddler programming), "LindoVictoriaFracaso" (a Spanish-language show), and "UnFAILtered" (fun and funny sports fails). Beebe also oversees the development and production of "CuteWinFail," which is now in its fifth season with over 200 million across the YouTube network.
Prior to his role at FishBowl, Beebe was the founding executive and Vice President, Digital Studio for Disney/ABC Television Group. Here, he was responsible for the general management, creative development and physical production of digital programming, including derivative webisodes, original series and live shows for the Disney-ABC Television Group’s broadcast and cable networks, including ABC Entertainment, ABC Daytime, ABC Family and SOAPnet.
During his six year tenure, he founded and led two Emmy-winning digital studio business units, earning recognition from the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in 2011 for leading the digital video group that produced the Emmy-winning 83rd Oscars Digital Multi-platform Experience and in 2008 for Product Managing the Emmy-winning Full Episode Player for ABC.com.
He also strengthened relationships with advertisers to develop and produce branded entertainment and oversaw production of webisodes for all TV series including Grey’s Anatomy, Cougar Town, Scrubs and Ugly Betty as well as the production of over 100 original digital series, including Life With Confidence for Extreme Makeover Home Edition, Stars Go Green and the Emmy-nominated Mysteries of the Universe: The Dharma Initiative for Lost.
Beebe also spent seven years at DIRECTV in a variety of key broadcast operations, production, and digital positions. While with DIRECTV, he was part of the launch team at the Marina Del Rey broadcast center, and developed and produced programming for DIRECTV.com and DIRECTV’s promotional on-air channels. Thru a multiyear production deal with Showtime Networks, Beebe served as creator and Executive Producer of six documentary-style DVD bonus features for Showtime’s his series “Queer as Folk” for three seasons.
Beebe’s successful career began in the United States Coast Guard, where he served as a Communications Specialist. While with the Coast Guard, Beebe’s was trusted with a top secret clearance and worked in a variety of technology and communication positions throughout California and Alaska until receiving an Honorable Discharge with special honors.
As an expert in video, digital brands, content and strategy, Beebe is considered an industry thought leader serving as a resource for journalists, consultant for content creators and brands, and speaker on industry panels. He has been a featured speaker and moderator at industry events organized by TVNext, Silicon Beach Fest, VidCon, TubeFilter, Digital Hollywood, Digital LA, OMMA Video, Streaming Media West & East, International Radio and Television Society, Academy Television Arts & Sciences, and the International Academy of Web Television.
